What do educators say about USDLC's PD in 3DV?

Why PD in 3D Virtual?

Some of the most innovative PD that I have had. (Raleigh, NC)

Dynamic. Great alternative and lively chats. (Center Valley, PA)

►I thought it was wonderful -- thought provoking and engaging. (New Tripoli, PA)

You folks rank as the BEST ever.(Coopersburg, PA)

It is one of the highlights of my SL experiences. It offers me a flood of
opportunities to meet and hear from colleagues around the globe at no cost. Unprecedented value!
(Honolulu, HI)

I was impressed with ease of use and interactions. Have done many webinars --
just not in SL. Similar, but the virtual world made it more interesting -- 2 of my
colleagues joined in -- also more fun. (Center Valley, PA)

New school year! New author study!  New books!  New literacies!

This 2009-10 school year we’ll study the books of Laurie Halse Anderson, winner of the American Library Association’s 2009 Margaret A. Edwards Award for lifetime achievement in writing for young adults.  And we’ll cap off the study when we meet with Laurie on April 26th – online and inworld (live, interactive audio stream and in Second Life).

Our first event was held on Sept 28 discussing F
ever 1793, Laurie’s historical fiction title. Katie Moore, Carnage Middle School teacher, shared ideas for teaching new literacies with this book that work great for interdisciplinary studies and are, unfortunately, quite timely with the current threat of the H1N1Virus.  Our second event was on October 29 discussing the book, SPEAK.

Neal Shusterman, award-winning author of novels for young adults, enjoyed unwinding with us last spring.

Well, maybe unwind isn't the best word choice considering Shusterman's
haunting 2008 sci-fi novel by that title.  But we won't spoil it for you.
Visit our archives for this past event.

We met with this prolific and award-winning YA author on USDLC Star Island
AND in Teen Second Life simultaneously which was pretty sci-fi, too.

Teens (under 18) joined us on Sparta Island  thanks to Southern Lehigh School District
(Central Valley, PA)
for generously hosting teen participants!

USDLC Star Island, the creation of Bill Lovin aka Ajax Quinnell, continues to evolve
under his creativity whether the additions are beautiful sunsets, babbling brooks,
meditative walks, lighthouse views, sailboat rides, or even ice skating.
